Jackie’s Hideaway is a welcoming neighborhood bar right in the heart of historic downtown Jackson at 160 Main Street. Formerly known as The Fargo, the bar carries on a long tradition of serving drinks in one of Jackson’s most storied buildings. The structure dates back to 1856, when Dr. William Sharp built the brick drug store that now houses the bar portion of the building. A two-story section was added in 1858 as a general store, and the easterly one-story section followed in 1898. The Ginocchio family owned the building from 1857 until selling it to later owners, and in 1955 Dan Vukajlovich and Jim Smallfield opened the Wells Fargo Club on the premises, purchasing the building outright in 1965. The bar even has a brush with Hollywood history — in February 1963, actor John Wayne and two companions stopped into the Wells Fargo Club for drinks during a visit to Jackson.
Today, Jackie’s Hideaway has given the space a fresh name and a gorgeous new look while preserving the character that locals have loved for decades. The bar is known for its friendly and attentive bartenders, a clean and comfortable environment, and an atmosphere that lives up to its name — an intimate hideaway perfect for unwinding. Jackie’s offers a rotating weekly food schedule alongside a solid selection of cocktails, beer, and spirits, so there is always something new to try. Whether you are a local looking for your regular spot or a visitor exploring Main Street’s Gold Rush-era charm, Jackie’s Hideaway is one of those places that makes you feel right at home the moment you walk through the door.
