Assigned to Ione Community UMC and Creekside UMC in Sutter Creek in 2018 by the California-Nevada Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Known as the "Cathedral of the Mother Lode," Ione Community United Methodist Church is California Historical Landmark #506 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The cornerstone was laid in 1862 and the church was completed in 1866, constructed of 255,000 locally fired bricks. The building features a high roof with visible rafters assembled without bolts. The church has served the people of Ione since the Gold Rush era and was registered as a historical landmark on July 31, 1953. It remains an active congregation in the California-Nevada Conference of the United Methodist Church, offering Sunday worship at 9\:30 AM.
