Lake Amador is a 400-acre reservoir with 13.5 miles of shoreline, located off Jackson Valley Road east of Ione at 7500 Lake Amador Drive. The lake is best known for the heaviest trout planting program in California — roughly 50,000 pounds of trout stocked from October through May, with many fish topping 10 pounds — making it a destination for anglers across the Central Valley and Bay Area. Bass, catfish, crappie, and bluegill round out the year-round fishery, which is open 24 hours a day.

Beyond fishing, Lake Amador offers 113 campsites spread across 100 oak-shaded acres, a 73-site Deluxe RV Park with full hookups and free WiFi, two disc golf courses, and a clubhouse with games. Day-use fees run $12 to $14 depending on season, and boat launch is $9.
