Lake Tabeaud is a small, scenic reservoir nestled in the Sierra foothills east of Jackson, reached via Tabeaud Road off the route between Jackson and Pine Grove. The easy 2.5-mile loop trail circling the lake is shared by hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders, with minimal elevation gain and shaded stretches beneath oaks and pines. Leashed dogs are welcome on the trail.
The lake is stocked by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and supports rainbow trout, brown trout, largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish. Kayaks and canoes are allowed, but motorized boats and swimming are not permitted. Picnic areas with tables and grills, restrooms, and ample parking make it an easy half-day outing from Jackson or Sutter Creek.
