Miners Bend Park

A free outdoor mining heritage park at the south entrance to Sutter Creek, featuring mining artifacts, interpretive signs, bronze statues, and a historic Chinese rock wall.

Sutter Creek, Amador County

Miners Bend Park sits at the south entrance to Sutter Creek along Main Street, offering a free outdoor walk through the region’s mining heritage. Conceived by local residents Frank Cunha and Ed Arata, the park broke ground on June 1, 2015, and held its grand opening on June 9, 2016 — coming in 50 percent under its $164,000 budget thanks to community donations and over 90 percent volunteer labor.

The park features mining artifacts from the Argonaut Mine in Jackson and the Lincoln Mine in Sutter Creek, 18 interpretive signs with historical narratives and period photographs, three bronze statues of miners panning for gold, and a 250-foot Chinese rock wall honoring the Chinese laborers who played a vital role in Gold Country’s mining era. Concrete walkways, benches, and a shaded picnic area make it an easy stop on the way into town.
