The Ione Homecoming is one of California’s oldest community celebrations, held annually during the second weekend of May at Howard Park. Dating back to 1876, this two-day event brings together residents and visitors for a weekend of small-town fun including live bands, fireworks, Mutton Bustin’, horseshoe and corn hole tournaments, and chili, salsa, and rib cook-offs.
A highlight of the weekend is Cow and Calf Chip Bingo, held at the racetrack at Howard Park. The event is organized by the Ione Picnic Association with sponsorship from the Ione Rotary Club and local businesses.
