Annual three-day Italian Picnic tradition featuring food, festivities, and a Sunday parade.
The Italian Picnic and Parade is one of Amador County’s longest-running traditions, held annually on the first weekend of June at the Italian Picnic Grounds on Highway 49 in Sutter Creek. Organized by the Italian Benevolent Society — the oldest independent Italian club in the United States, established in 1881 — the event has been celebrated since 1882.
The festivities span three days, with Friday evening kicking off as kids’ night. Saturday features an all-you-can-eat Italian dinner, and Sunday highlights include the Grand Parade through downtown Sutter Creek at 10:30 AM followed by a tri-tip barbecue at noon. Throughout the weekend, attendees enjoy amusement rides, vendor booths, bocce ball, salami toss competitions, bingo, and live music and dancing.
Entry to the picnic grounds is free.
