Hotel Sutter has anchored Main Street in Sutter Creek for over 160 years. The earliest incarnation on this site was the American House, built in 1852 and serving as a stage stop for Adams & Company Express. After a devastating 1865 fire destroyed nearly all of Sutter Creek’s business district, the building was reconstructed in brick as a fireproof structure and renamed the American Exchange Hotel. It later became The Bellotti Inn — its most memorable incarnation — before taking on its current name. Today’s Hotel Sutter blends the authentic romance of the Old West with accommodations designed for modern living, offering 21 smoke-free guest rooms across the second and third floors. Nine room types range from Full Standard rooms to King Deluxe suites with balcony views and Murphy beds, and all include private bathrooms, Keurig coffee makers, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and in-room thermostats. The hotel can accommodate up to 50 overnight guests.
The Sutter Restaurant serves contemporary American cuisine — creative shareable bites, inspired soups and salads, and classic entrees including beef short ribs, grilled salmon, and prime rib on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. Saturday and Sunday brunch features breakfast until 1 PM and infinite mimosas. The restaurant’s accordion front doors open to wall-to-wall windows overlooking Main Street, with additional seating on the second-floor balcony. Below street level, The Copper Room is a speakeasy-style bar that transports guests to Prohibition days gone by. Open Thursday through Saturday evenings, it features a curated whiskey program with rare bottles from Asia, Europe, Australia, and North America, whiskey flights, signature cocktails, and an extensive wine list emphasizing award-winning Shenandoah Valley vintages. Live music plays upstairs on Townie Night every Thursday.
Hotel Sutter offers over 3,000 square feet of event space across the Banquet Room, Lobby Bar, Main Street Balcony, restaurant, and Copper Room, accommodating up to 100 guests. Three wedding packages range from an intimate midweek elopement for up to 10 guests to the Wine Country Dream Wedding for up to 100, which includes a one-hour Copper Room cocktail reception, bridal suite, continental breakfast, a 21-passenger private shuttle, and an in-house event coordinator. The hotel can be reserved in its entirety for wedding parties and corporate events.
