Amador Axes & Eats opened on June 9, 2023, bringing Amador County its first and only axe-throwing venue alongside a full kitchen serving pizza, gourmet burgers, appetizers, and a beer and wine bar. Co-owners Jenny Gardner and Sean Steen — a U.S. Navy veteran — were inspired to launch the concept after trying axe throwing in Ukiah while visiting family. They purchased kitchen equipment from the former Paisano’s Pizzeria via an asset sale from the Pezzi family, giving the pizza program an immediate head start built on decades of local pizza-making know-how.
The venue features three axe-throwing lanes where groups can compete while waiting for their food, making it a popular spot for birthday parties, team outings, and date nights. Located on Highway 49, Amador Axes & Eats adds a modern entertainment twist to Jackson’s dining scene that you would not expect to find in a Gold Rush town of under five thousand people.
