One of Amador County's largest gathering places, located in Howard Park. Hosts community events, fundraisers, and serves as an emergency shelter.
Evalynn Bishop Hall is one of Amador County’s largest gathering places, situated within Howard Park (Charles Howard Park) in Ione. The hall hosts a wide range of community events including fundraiser dinners, chili and salsa cook-offs, cat shows, Ione Homecoming celebrations, Miwok tribal meetings, and blood drives. It also serves as an Emergency Services shelter capable of accommodating up to 600 residents during disasters.
The hall features a commercial kitchen that was expanded and modernized through a multi-phase renovation led by the Ione Rotary Club and five local service clubs. Phase II of the renovation included a 2,000-gallon grease interceptor, dedicated mop and hand-washing sinks, code compliance upgrades, and security improvements.
Howard Park itself offers additional outdoor amenities including a patio area, horseshoe pit, equestrian arena with stables, a one-mile track, skate park, and dry camping available during events. Facility rentals are managed by the City of Ione.
