Raven’s Reach Winery occupies a storefront at 83 Main Street in the heart of historic Sutter Creek, offering a wine experience deliberately designed to stand apart from the crowd. The winery was founded with a clear mission: “different grapes, different winemaking styles, different blends and a different level of interaction with our customers.” Where many Amador County tasting rooms lean into Zinfandel and Barbera, Raven’s Reach builds its lineup around uncommon varietals and adventurous blends sourced in small lots from vineyards across Amador County, El Dorado County, and the broader Sierra Foothills.
The current portfolio spans eleven wines that reward curious palates. Whites include a Vermentino from El Dorado County, and the rose lineup features a wine called Reverie from Amador County fruit. The reds are where things get especially interesting — Montepulciano from the Sierra Foothills, Grenache Noir and Mourvedre from Fiddletown and Amador County, a GSM blend, and proprietary blends called Conspiracy and Alchemy that showcase the winemaker’s creative instincts. Barbera and Syrah round out the robust red offerings, and a Petit Manseng dessert wine from El Dorado County provides a sweet finish. Prices range from $20 to $36 per bottle.
The tasting room is open Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, making it one of the later-closing options on Main Street — ideal for visitors who want to extend their evening downtown. Dogs are welcome. One of the most distinctive aspects of Raven’s Reach is their commitment to involving customers in the winemaking process. Wine club members are invited to help shape future wines, participating in decisions about blends and varietals. The winery also runs a “Bags to Bottles” sustainability program, where customers can exchange unused wine bags for credit toward complimentary bottles.
