Sobon Estate is California’s oldest winery, founded in 1856 by Swiss immigrant Adam Uhlinger and designated California Historical Landmark No. 762. The property operated as D’Agostini Winery from 1880 until Leon and Shirley Sobon purchased it in 1989, making it the longest continuous producer of Zinfandel in the state. The family crafts bold Zinfandels, Rhone varietals, Barbera, and dessert wines. The estate features the free Shenandoah Valley Museum with historic winemaking artifacts, a shaded picnic area, and guest house accommodations.
