A Historic Building with a New Beat

The building at 78 Main Street has been a Sutter Creek landmark since 1869, when Carlo Soracco established a general store and adjoining residence modeled after similar buildings in his native Genoa, Italy. Carlo’s son Frank became proprietor in 1894 and grew the C. Soracco Company into a major supplier to the Mother Lode’s mines. The building carries a historical marker to this day — and now it carries a new pulse. Robert Barton took over in late 2024, rebranding the former Sutter Creek Provisions as Elvis’ Rhythm and Brews — also known around town simply as R&B on Main — and sharpening the focus on live music without abandoning the craft beer roots that made the space popular in the first place. The concept is straightforward: craft beer, great food, games of skill, and entertainment, all under one historic roof.

What’s on Tap and on the Plate

Rotating taps pour craft beer alongside local wines, hard cider, coffee, and hot cocoa. Gourmet hot dogs and house-made bean dip with chips keep the hunger at bay. Thursdays are jam sessions and open mic night, and Friday and Saturday evenings bring live bands to the intimate listening room, which features a great sound system built for acoustic clarity. The doors open Thursday through Sunday, giving weekend visitors plenty of time to settle in before the evening acts start.

The Hang

Out back, a courtyard shaded by a large redwood offers extra seating beneath the open sky, and there is a pool table inside for good measure. Comfortable seating and a covered patio round out the options. Kids and dogs are both welcome — this is a community hangout first, bar second. Whether you are ducking in for an afternoon pint or staying through the last set on a Saturday night, the vibe is relaxed and the welcome is genuine.
